Re: Hey BOB, there's a market for your Enya's
I missed that one Rene. "Error in the listing", wonder what it was.
So nicely done, but collectable? From the UK so shipping is high, but I would love to own it. I will be watching if he relists it.
Bob
Ah, He has relisted it:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/TETHER-CAR-GAS-POWERED-AERO-MODEL-CAR-ENYA-MODEL-ENGINE/153151040589?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D53210%26meid%3D4b8f227bacb34122b86e840b617e3dd5%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D153119181653%26itm%3D153151040589&_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850
Odd though, R/C engine but no carburetor control. Muffler blow-back into the propeller, strange fuel system.

Oh, no. My intentions weren’t for you to buy it, but to build a duplicate of it so you could sell off some of your Enya engines. Although it does look like a fun car to run!

Looks like it is meant for decoration and not to be run. Doesn’t look ”vintage” to me with the rollerblade wheels. Interesting piece but a bit pricey, for that kind of price one could get genuine vintage ones.

Re: Hey BOB, there's a market for your Enya's
I think he said in his ad, maybe just nice to look at. Heck, I would want to run it but would substitute a C/L .15 and ditch the muffler. Out of my price range for the fun involved, besides I wouldn't want to get it dirty.
Any explanation for that fuel system?

I was wondering the same thing / I have seen this before but don't remember what it was on>> if it's a fuel cell its only enough to get it started .rsv1cox wrote:I think he said in his ad, maybe just nice to look at. Re: Hey BOB, there's a market for your Enya's
I have a couple of Enya car/helo .09 engines. They are not rare but you don't see them everyday. Big heat sink on the head, ribs on the case.
Looks like some kind of momentary contact switch on the tank. For looks maybe.
Still all kinds of intrigue for me. The engine new is worth about $35/$45, the rest..............
Still, paid a third of the price for this..........................
Weakening

Yup, agree on cost, that engine doesn't look like a rare one, a bit overpriced and I'd rather have the engine and not the car. Probably a good conversation piece for the unwary.
Talk about sticker shock, here's an old McCoy ignition engine tether car on E-Bay for $3,500 US. I gather it is probably very rare these days.

Yeah, those are a big deal.
A few months ago the guys on American Pickers bought several for thousands $$. They drive me nuts though, for years I have watched them ignore vintage model airplanes, walk right by them either on a shelf or hanging from a ceiling.
Hey idiot........LOOK UP I yell.

Bob, if you are thinking about getting that oddly crafted Enya prop rod, please don't let me stop you. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Someone did a nice job of creating it. However, I watched your gift in restoring old autos, bringing the dead back to life. Somehow I'd think with your talent, you'd be able to come up with something that was even far better and in short order, too.

It has not sold at the asking price.
He has relisted it:

Is that prop on backwards or is that the front of the car?

I didn't catch the re-list at $425 Brit. But I did save the picture. Looks correct for a pusher in this view, but incorrect in the first listing.
I would have loved to own the darned thing. Eye candy for me but a non-runner. That exhaust through the prop would make a mess.

Re: Hey BOB, there's a market for your Enya's
One could mount the muffler with exhaust facing forward, then use some high temp silicon hose of the right size to get it away from the prop. Or, if still available, use a Dubro Exhaust Off silicon rubber fitting. (I don't know if those are still available, and particularly in the smaller diameters.)
I think a better game plan would be for one to roll their own car. Not only would this be much cheaper; the model is so simplistic it could be easily duplicated, plus improved upon. Rescale size to match the engine and prop selected.
This engine and muffler combination would get the exhaust away.

Look at the cross section of the prop . The leading edge is facing towards the back . The prop needs to be flipped around to work properly .

For engine illustration only, it's an APC and it is properly mounted for a tractor prop. I mentioned "engine and muffler" but nothing about the prop. I currently don't have any 7 inch pusher props.
