Cox #6 piston/ cylinder
What is a #6 it is in a Cox TD .051 case. I have not taken it apart but have not seen a #6. I know the #4 is a TD .049. Just cleaned four TD's and had enough for today. Engine has a Kirn Kraft NVA. Thank you,Dan

I just pulled a refurbished #6 cylinder. This one is a thin-walled, early one with dual bypass and NO sub induction. .049 pistons fit.
Keep in mind Cox changed up the styles over the years. Usually the dual bypass and No sub induction will be the same regardless, but the outside shape may be a little different depending upon the year.

Re: Cox #6 piston/ cylinder
I have a cylinder chart here if it will help. https://sites.google.com/site/coxenginecollection/choosing-a-cylinder
.049-.051
Is this a TD piston and cylinder or something like a Black Widow that someone changed out??

A quick pic of the one I am talking about. Sort of hard to see the '6' but it is there.

That one IS off a QZ (it has the old thin design and the top fin milling so it can be tightened and or removed with a muffler on it)
Re: Cox #6 piston/ cylinder
Two of my pee wee .020s came with a cylinder like that but smaller does the mean they originally had mufflers?

no, the thin design was a old design. I don't recall ever seeing a .020 come with a muffler. I just know the #6 cylinder, thin wall design and the top fin milling was a cylinder they used on the QZ
Re: Cox #6 piston/ cylinder
Ok maybe both the engine came with throttle rings.Admin wrote:nitroairplane wrote:Twobof my pee wee .020s came with a cylinder like that but smaller does the mean they originally had mufflers?

Sorry for my spelling i think I'm dislexic and its hard to type on an iPhone when you have the fingers of an engine guy glow fuel makes one skin so hard.
Re: Cox #6 piston/ cylinder
there was a pee wee with a throttle ring made, actually. it was probably made in pretty limited numbers inAdmin wrote:nitroairplane wrote:Twobof my pee wee .020s came with a cylinder like that but smaller does the mean they originally had mufflers?

the 90s', i haven't seen any on ebay for ages. they basically use the same type of throttle ring used in medallion
r/c's, but smaller of course.

.049/.051
OK,
Checked listing on cylinder #'s . #4 TD .049/ #5 TD .051. #6 QZ/QRC. Just found another baggie with a .049/ and nice .051 TD plus a decent Holland hornet .051. Man I like finding a surprise.
